Morning sun rays captures judges hearts

JODIE Bennett-Wood and Carter Armstrong have taken the win in this years South Gippsland Shire Council Australia Day Photography competition.

Announced online at 5pm, Jodie has taken the win in the open category for her image ‘Early Morning Sun Rays (Rail Trail at Meeniyan)’, whilst Carter secured top place in the under 15 category for ‘Korumburra South’.

This year there were 98 entries for the competition with many photographers reflecting the theme ‘Australia Day: South Gippsland – Our people and places’.

“It was wonderful to see so much talent and variety in this year’s Australia Day Photography Competition submissions,” Cr Clare Williams, Mayor South Gippsland Shire Council.

“I enjoyed seeing how the new theme was interpreted in such a creative and unique manner. South Gippsland is home to an abundance of truly talented creatives, and I would like to thank everyone for their exceptional entries into this year’s competition.”
