KORUMBURRA welcomed ladder leaders Nerrena to the Korumburra Recreation Reserve and the visitors won the toss and sent the Cobras in to bat first.
Although Shane Dole (84* from 75) was able to put together a sensational innings, his side unfortunately couldn’t go with him as the hosts finished 6/162.
Jaxon Checkley (2/22 from 8) bowled well for Nerrena who were able to chase down the total with six wickets to spare in the second innings.
Both openers David Baldi (45 from 50) and Lachlan Roberts (45 from 34) fell just shy of half centuries as James Kelly (39* from 34) saw the visitors to the finish line.
Dole (2/27 from 8) capped of a ripper all round individual performance with a couple of scalps, his side will now take on Inverloch in a huge clash this Saturday, while the Cobras will play the Imps.
Diggers get it done on pink stumps day
OMK welcomed MDU to the Outtrim Recreation Oval for ‘Pink Stumps Day’ and the hosts won the toss and chose to bat first in the sea of pink.
Falling just short of a half century the Diggers’ skipper James Paterson (46) led the way as his side posted a decent total of 7/180 after their 40 overs with contributions up and down the order.
Paul Vine (2/27 from 8) was the pick of the bowlers for the Dees’.
In reply, chasing 181, the visitors just couldn’t find that same groove, despite three of their top order batters getting off to starts and their skipper Craig Hoober (31*) remaining at the crease, they got nothing from their lower order, being dismissed 10/125.
The hosts’ 55-run win was led by a terrific bowling effort, thanks in no small part to Barry Wyatt’s (5/11 from 5 overs) outstanding five wicket haul.
The Diggers will now host Koony this weekend, while MDU will have the bye.
Debono does it again for Invy
AN undermanned Imperials side welcomed Inverloch to East Campus Oval and the hosts won the toss and chose to bat first.
Although they only lost four wickets in their innings, the Imps just weren’t able to accelerate the scoring and reach a massive score on what was an uncharacteristically slow outfield.
Gary Sauvarin (64* from 107) batted tremendously despite this though, remaining unbeaten after opening the batting and surpassing the half century mark, John Richardson (1/18 from 8) bowled well for Invy’.
In the second innings, the Lions were tasked with trying to dislodge the in form Brett Debono (78*), but unfortunately they failed to do so and his unbeaten half century saw the Stingrays to another win, this time by 9-wickets.
Debono combined well with Christian Terlich (26*) to see their side up and over the target, Francois Botha (1/32 from 7) was the pick of the bowlers for the Imps.
The second placed Stingrays will now head into a massive top two clash with ladder leaders Nerrena, while the Lions will host Korumburra.

Nerrena bowlers set up win over Glen Alvie
A DISCIPLINED bowling display from home team
Nerrena made life tough for Glen Alvie after the visiting side elected to bat, ensuring Nerrena didn’t have to score too many for victory.

However, Glen Alvie skipper Jay Tiziani backed her decision to bat first by notching a half century (52 not out).
It was a largely patient knock coming off 106 balls, but sprinkled with eight boundaries.
Tiziani’s opening partner Joe Burke was Glen Alvie’s next best with the willow, managing 16 runs.
All six bowlers used by Nerrena made a solid contribution to their side’s eventual five-wicket win.
Charlie Dougherty snavelled 2/21, from eight stingy overs.
While Poly Joseph, Patrick Johnston and Gerard Murphy captured a wicket each, Ryan Giliam didn’t make a breakthrough but yielded just 11 off his maximum number of overs.
Will Croatto also kept it tight without taking a wicket, conceding 21 from his eight overs.
Cameron Baudinette assumed most of the load for Nerrena as it chased a modest 112-run target, finishing unbeaten on 43.
While four other players reached double figures for the winning side, the best of those was Croatto (15).
Will Hynes was the only multiple wicket taker for beaten Glen Alvie, managing 2/40 from his full over allotment, with teammate Lachlan McRae getting just four overs but impressing with 1/6.
OMK too strong at home for Club
OUTTRIM Moyarra Kongwak’s top order set the foundation for a solid team total after the Diggers chose to bat first on home turf against Wonthaggi Club.
Striving to make 183 for victory, Club could muster only 137 by the conclusion of its 40 overs, resulting in a 45-run OMK win.
Wonthaggi skipper and keeper Luke Sibley was his side’s most productive batsman, scoring 40 runs.
While four others in the Club batting lineup made it into double figures, Gavin Britt’s 22 was the best of those.
OMK president and B2 captain Russ White had the pick of the bowling figures with 3/21 off eight overs but teammate Patrick Jobling inflicted heavy damage on the Wonthaggi top order, finishing with 3/31 off his full complement of overs.
Earlier, OMK put 95 runs on the board for the first wicket before Scott Handley departed for 41, dismissed by Sam Liddle who finished with 2/25 from eight overs.
Handley’s opening partner Robert Quaife succumbed without addition to the score, being run out for 50.
White made 29 batting at number three, with the next couple of Diggers to the crease reaching double figures.
While Liddle had the best of the bowling figures for Wonthaggi, Justin Licis wasn’t far behind, taking 2/30 off his eight overs, including the wicket of White.
