ALTHOUGH a 100 per cent effort was delivered, the injury-stricken Nyora went down to a well-balanced Lang Lang side by 77 points.

Nyora went into Saturday’s match carrying a few injuries and with five outs, who will hopefully be returning to the lineup for next week’s local derby.

Playing at the Nyora Recreation Reserve, the conditions were perfect for footy, and the ground was in good nick.

Lang Lang got the jump in the first quarter with a six-goal haul, but Nyora held its own and answered with two goals from midfielder Paul Delaroche.

Delaroche played a superb game and kicked four goals while playing in the midfield for the game.

A level quarter took the match into halftime, but Lang Lang still held a 28-point lead.

The intensity continued through to the third quarter and Nyora was looking strong through the midfield.

The rotation of Delaroche, Dylan Heylen and Jordan Anderson provided excellent coverage across the midfield and into the forward line.

“Our rotations have been working. Everyone is starting to link up well and we are getting to where we want to be as a club,” coach Daryl Swinburne said.

Nyora was also backed by a number of Reserve players who filled out the Seniors this week and held their own against a challenging opponent.

However, things began to fall apart in the fourth quarter.

Nyora found itself with no bench rotations to close the match and Lang Lang was able to demonstrate its fitness by kicking away at the end.

Lang Lang’s seven goals in the final quarter blew out the score.

Next week, Nyora will come up against Poowong in the match of the round.

Nyora will be playing at home again and is looking forward to the match-up.

Both sides produced similar results when they played against Longwarry, so Nyora is hopeful the game will be on equal footing and will determine where the club sits within the league.
