NYORA sailed passed Inverloch’s score and quickly won the day at the Inverloch Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

Nyora’s opening partnership of Jordan Knox and Lincoln Brock continued where they left off last week and went on to make 15 and 30 runs respectively.

When Brock was dismissed at 1/50, Keith Linford entered and compiled a top score of 44 runs.

Ben Pugh contributed 23 runs and retired not out.

Amanda Linford finished it off with a final 15 runs. 

Wickets were shared between four Inverloch bowlers – Callan O’Flynn, Matthew Marston, Wayne Chapman and Mia Dugard.

After 33.4 overs, Nyora had won the day with 4/145. 

Phillip Island takes the win

PHILLIP Island proved to be too strong for Koonwarra L/RSL on Saturday.

Koonwarra L/RSL went into the weekend with its eye on Phillip Island’s target – 7/208.

Opening bowler Adam Thorne put 38 runs on the scoreboard before he was dismissed LBW by Peter Francis.

This turned out to be the top score of the day, with Ashley Boxall, Alexander Stanley and captain Kevin Thorne later adding 17, 13 and 11 runs respectively.

Phillip Island bowler Peter Cleary had a day out, claiming 5/25.

Francis also gave the Cougars a hard time, taking 4/33.

The Cougars conceded defeat with a score of 10/101.

Town triumphant 

LEONGATHA Town claimed victory over Kilcunda-Bass on Saturday.

Kilcunda-Bass won the toss and chose to bat on the first day of the two-day match, played the previous week.

Kevin McLean had Kilcunda-Bass off to a flying start with 50 runs.

Joel Huckett and Paul Cornelis contributed 36 and 33 runs respectively.

Town bowler Cameron Dowling and Travis Strybosch ensured the Sharks were under pressure, each taking two wickets.

Kilcunda-Bass set Town’s target at 10/218. 

A whopping 103 run haul from Town’s opening batsman Tim Cashin had Kilcunda-Bass under the pump on Saturday.

Opening batsman Nigel Hodges added 33 runs to the tally and Lochlan May contributed 51 runs, batting fourth in the order.

Kilcunda-Bass bowler James Matser had the best bowling figures, claiming 2/19.

Wickets were also taken by Ashley Joseph, Cornelis and Joel Dickson.

Town declared with a total of 5/238 after 35 overs.

MDU gives consistent performance

MDU proved to be too tough for Korumburra on Saturday.

Playing at the Dumbalk Recreation Reserve, Korumburra won the toss and elected to bat the previous week.

The opening partnership of Noah Belvedere and Robert Belvedere gave a strong start, accumulating 28 and 46 runs respectively.

Clint Gooch later added 30 runs and was not out at the end of the innings.

However, MDU’s bowling pressure kicked off from there, and six batsmen were dismissed for ducks.

MDU’s Stephen Riley and Riley Prosser claimed the bowling honours, taking 4/44 and 4/16 respectively.

The other wicket was claimed by Daniel Field.

Korumburra finished its innings with 10/144.

MDU went into bat on Saturday.

It was a consistent innings, enough to overtake the Cobra’s efforts.

Opening batsmen captain Dale Thomas and Tim Bright contributed 22 and 26 runs respectively.

Harper Cocksedge and Mark Le Page later stepped up to the wicket, each contributing 35 runs.

Evan Belvedere was Korumburra’s top bowler, taking 2/11.

Other wickets were shared between six bowlers.

MDU won the match with a score of 8/209.
