A Grade, Division 2

NYORA delivered a strong performance to head into the mid-season break with a convincing win over Foster.

Playing in Nyora, Foster won the toss and chose to send the home team into bat.

Henry Dolphin and Jy Hull was Nyora’s opening partnership, but Hull was dismissed for 12 by a catch from Tex Dyson off the bowling of Andrew Pattie at 1/17.

This sent in Aaron Thompson, who got the ball rolling for Nyora with a handy haul of 38 runs.

Batting fifth in the order, it was Aaron Kaddatz who ensured a Nyora victory with the top score of 50 runs.

Seeing the win slipping away, the Foster fielding side stepped it up and limited scoring opportunities for the second half of the batting order.

A fill-in player delivered Foster’s best bowling scores, taking 3/25.

Dyson claimed 2/27, with singles shared between five other bowlers.

Nyora was set to defend 10/168.

Nyora bowlers Reece Cordeux and Thompson restricted opportunities for Foster to hit the scoreboard by claiming 3 wickets each.

For Foster, Pattie top scored with 27 runs.

Brad Cripps contributed 15 not out to round out the innings.

Single wickets were taken by Nyora bowlers captain Jake Henry, Michael Lynch and Hull.

Foster was unable to catch up to Nyora and finished the game with a score of 9/103.

Kilcunda-Bass seals the win

DESPITE a fairly consistent innings from MDU, Kilcunda-Bass proved to be too strong on Saturday.

MDU chose to bat first, sending in Sembakuttige Chathura Lakshan and Paul Le Page.

The partnership made a good start to the innings, making 27 and 15 runs respectively.

Captain Joel Sinclair and vice-captain Mitch McGrath made 18 runs each, and Matt Martin polished off the innings with 21 not out.

Kilcunda-Bass bowler Brad Wright caused the most headaches for MDU, taking 3/27, including the dismissal of Zak Bright for a duck.

Single wickets were taken by Harrison Berry, Ben Rookes and Jayden Tregear.

MDU finished its allotted overs with a respectable score of 7/125.

However, Wright’s form continued on into Kilcunda-Bass’ innings and the opening batsman drove his team to victory with an impressive 80-run haul.

His run was ultimately stopped by a catch from Scott Browne off the
bowling of Bright.

MDU bowler Tharindu Nuwan took 3/14, which ensured Kilcunda-Bass had to fight to the end to reach its target within 20 overs.

Kilcunda-Bass won with a final score of 4/126.

Captain Clark’s 38

INVERLOCH successfully defended its total against Glen Alvie at Inverloch’s Thompson Reserve.

Glen Alvie bowler Zak Scholz was quick to dismiss the opening partnership, but captain Dylan Clark kept Inverloch’s spirits going with 38 runs.

Archie Luke went on to take 3/22, upsetting Inverloch’s batting order, but the Stingrays still managed to reach 8/113 at the end of its 20 overs.

Matthew Donohue opened the batting for Glen Alvie, and that’s where he stayed for the entirety of the innings.

Donohue’s 43 not out certainly lifted Glen Alvie’s final score, but his teammates failed to hold up the other end leaving the result firmly in Inverloch’s control.

Ty Debono ran through Glen Alvie’s batting order, taking 4/9, including the dismissal of captain Ben McRae for a golden duck and Harvey Smith for a duck.

Jesse Dugard was also a multiple-wicket taker.

The game was claimed by Inverloch when Glen Alvie finished its 20 overs with 7/74.
