THE Nyora Junior Football Netball Club committee held their second Big Freeze with the support of the Tooradin Football Netball Club to raise awareness for the fight against MND, and together the clubs raised over $9000.

President of the junior FNC, Shannon Gallagher, said it was an unbelievable effort by everyone involved, and this kind of event doesn’t run without the support of the volunteers.

“Parents volunteered their time to be a part of the bake sale, the committee from Nyora and Tooradin FNC put together generous hampers for the raffle, and there were some great prizes to be won,” said Shannon.

“The first to be dunked were the coaches of the eight and tens game, followed by the coaches from the 12’s and 14’s. We even got some senior footballers, some team managers, parents, and the kids involved.”

The annual event has quickly become a community day for both clubs, where families unite to not only support the cause but to watch the games and cheer on the juniors on the field.

“Nyora FNC has seen a huge increase in junior numbers this year, including those in Auskick, and it was great to see the seniors and former players come on down and show their support,” Shannon said.

After the event, the community gathered for a club dinner from Smoke It Up, supplying brisket burgers and American-style meats; the bar was open, and the bonfire set the atmosphere for an overall successful event for Nyora FNC, raising awareness for the fight against MND.
