Timothy Gunn was the Panthers’ leading goal scorer with three majors for the game.

KILCUNDA BASS started strong but ultimately conceded defeat to Cora Lynn.

Playing at the Bass Recreation Reserve, the Panthers jumped out of the box quickly to put three goals on the board to Cora Lynn’s three behinds.

The first quarter was played on the Panthers’ terms and the home side felt it had given itself some breathing room ahead of the first siren.

However, there was a bit of a breeze down Kilcunda Bass’ kicking end, offering an advantage.

The Panthers would need to brace themselves for the second quarter, with Cora Lynn hungry to use the wind advantage to even things back up.

A bit of a drizzle began at the end of the first quarter.

Cora Lynn regrouped at quarter time and came back swinging, hitting its targets to gain the lead.

Regardless, Lochlan Scott played a sensational game in the backline.

Playing on leading goal kicker Nathan Gardiner, Scott’s performance kept his opponent to just four goals for the game.

The game changed in the second half.

The conditions became slippery and both sides resorted to a scrappier style of play.

Both teams were also dealing with injuries, creating tricky situations for both coaches.

Back from injury, Jack Soroczynski played a strong game for the Panthers, providing another brilliant onballer to take back a bit of control.

Kilcunda Bass didn’t take its chances and Cora Lynn proved to be more reliable with the ball.

Cora Lynn adjusted to the new conditions quicker and managed to play a much cleaner game.

Scores were fairly even through the second half, but Cora Lynn managed to retain its lead.

Despite the result, Kilcunda Bass took some positives from the game, and is taking note of where it sits in the scheme of the competition.

Going forward, Kilcunda Bass will be looking to continue putting points in the bank and keeping its percentage sound for the opportunity to compete with the best come finals.

Kilcunda Bass will play Garfield at Garfield next round.

Garfield has a nice, open ground, which has proved taxing on the Panthers’ legs in the past.

However, the Panthers are expecting this ground to suit their style of play and are looking forward to seeing how it goes.
