PHILLIP Island celebrated Billy Taylor’s 100th senior game in style, defeating Koo Wee Rup by 68 points at Cowes Recreation Reserve.

The Island came out blazing, kicking the first four goals before Koo Wee Rup rallied late with three of its own, the Bulldogs then adding another couple to set up a 39-19 lead at quarter time.

After a stern talking to from coach Cam Pedersen at the break, the Island piled on seven goals in a blistering second quarter, taking an 85-39 halftime lead.

Mark Collison was racking up the possessions along with Hayden Bruce and Pedersen.

Phillip Island slotted another six goals in the third term, the attack on the ball and link across the ground being brilliant.

With the win sealed at three-quarter time, the Island took the foot off the pedal, allowing Koo Wee Rup to boot four goals in the last stanza, the final score being 138-70.

Billy Taylor and Pedersen finished the match with four goals each, Finn O’Brien managed three majors and Jordy Patullo kicked a couple of goals from the wing.

The Bulldogs have a massive two weeks coming up, playing undefeated Nar Nar Goon and third-placed Cora Lynn.

Under 18s

Phillip Island Thirds secured a thrilling one-point win over Koo Wee Rup, finishing 4.3 (27) to 4.2 (26) after the Demons mounted a fierce comeback in the final quarter, kicking three goals and nearly stealing the win, having been held to just one major in total for the first three quarters.

The game started evenly, with the teams locked at 1.1 (7) apiece at quarter-time.

In the second term, Phillip Island managed to edge ahead slightly, going into halftime with a narrow lead of 1.3 (9) to 1.1 (7).

The third quarter saw Phillip Island extend its advantage, adding two more goals to take control of the match at 3.3 (21) to 1.1 (7) before Koo Wee Rup hit back to provide an exciting finish.

Reserves

The Phillip Island Reserves turned in a dominant four-quarter performance on the weekend, dismantling Koo Wee Rup with a commanding 15.15 (105) to 1.3 (9) victory.

From the opening bounce, the Island boys took control, moving the ball cleanly and applying consistent scoreboard pressure.

Their structure behind the ball was rock solid, allowing minimal opportunities for Koo Wee Rup and setting up wave after wave of attacking play.

Brady Ross was a clear standout, putting together a best-on-ground performance with four goals and a strong presence across the field.

His composure, footy smarts, and ability to hit the scoreboard were on full display.

He was brilliantly supported by Finlay Cousins, who not only slotted two goals but worked hard all game.

Ben Taylor impressed with his leadership and clean disposal, Henry Peppard was consistent around the contests, Saxon Mau caught the eye with his run and carry, while Ethan Michaelides displayed composed ball use.

It was a comprehensive team win and a strong statement as the Reserves continue to build momentum heading deeper into the season.
