Women’s – Round 6
THE sun was shining and Rhyll oval looked superb as the Women’s Cricket team faced Nyora for their Round 6 game.
Captain Bec lost the toss and the Sharks were sent into bat.
Grace opened the batting in stunning form, quickly clocking up four boundaries, while Sienna kept the strike turning over. A great 28 run partnership.
Jess and Claudia continued the run of boundaries, with Jess smashing a breathtaking seven fours, to top score for the Island with 34 runs. The Island, 68 at the change. Jay and Stacey ran smoothly between the wickets, and a big congratulations to Stacey for making her first runs for PIDCC!

The Island were on 86 as Jane and Bec made their way to the crease. The pair ran on everything, only taking a breath when Jane strategically placed the ball to get three boundaries. The Island 112, and Katie and Rosanna were ready to close the innings. Both women consistently found the boundary with powerful, well-placed shots (Rosanna three fours and Katie two fours). The Island finished their innings on 153 runs. Congratulations to top scorers Jess (34), Grace (22) and Rosanna (22) runs.
Sienna opened the bowling for the Sharks and achieved success quickly, clean bowling the opposition twice in three balls. She then continued her stunning form, clean bowling the opposition two more times. Together with a run out, Sienna achieved a sensational 4/9 (3).
Grace, Jane and Bec bowled with great line and length, restricting the scoring, while Katie and Jess bowled with pure power. Jess got a wicket with a perfectly pitched ball that split the stumps apart.
Claudia bowled a tight spell, creating scoring pressure which led to a run out. Meanwhile Jay bowled with precision, resulting in Jane taking a beautiful catch at mid-wicket. Stacey fielded like a true champion and Rosanna worked tirelessly behind the stumps keeping Nyora to a total of 90 runs. Congratulations to bowling sensations Sienna 4/9 (3), Jay 1/3 (2) and Jess 1/18 (3).
Congratulations to Phillip Island Ten Pin Bowling and Entertainment Centre Player of the Match: Sienna! PIDCC Women’s cricket side remain undefeated for the season.
