INCLEMENT weather caused all B1 matches to be abandoned early on Saturday.

Inverloch managed to play 17 overs against Wonthaggi Club before calling it quits.

Playing at the Inverloch Recreation Reserve, the home team won the toss and chose to bat.

Captain Brett Debono and David Harris opened Inverloch’s batting, making 11 and 20 not out respectively.

The game was called off at 0/38.

Thirty-six overs were played by Korumburra and Phillip Island at the Poowong Recreation Reserve.

Phillip Island won the toss and went into bat.

Captain Andrew Finlayson top scored with 38 runs.

Tharidu Asurumuni and Tony Hornsby also made 36 and 30 runs respectively.

For Korumburra, George Edwards made a strong start to the season, claiming 3/29.

The game was washed out after Phillip Island had reached 5/157.

The match between MDU and Nerrena was also abandoned after 27.3 overs.

MDU hosted Nerrena, and the Red Caps won the toss and sent MDU into bat.

MDU made a steady start with Craig Hoober top scoring with 14 not out.

Troy Sinclair was the only other batsman to reach double figures.

Ryan Clark bowled well for Nerrena, taking 3/20.

Tyson Harris and Damien Symmons were single wicket takers.

MDU’s score was 6/62 by the time weather impacted the match.

OMK had the bye in round one. 

B Grade, Division 2

ALL matches in B2 were called off due to wet weather conditions on Saturday.

Nineteen overs were played between Kilcunda-Bass and Foster at the Bass Recreation Reserve.

The home team won the toss and chose to bowl.

Foster’s opening batsman Jake Pilkington top top-scored with 25 runs before a catch from Vijai Kumar Gopal saw him dismissed.

Captain Brandon Busuttil and Andrew Pattie were not out when the match was abandoned.

They had made 12 and 10 runs respectively.

Wickets were claimed by Kilcunda-Bass bowlers Rohan Duff and Ryan Brown.

Kilcunda-Bass made 2/52.

Also playing at the Bass Recreation Reserve on oval two, Glen Alvie and the Imperials managed 17 overs.

The Imperials won the toss and chose to bat.

Andrew Meyer and Rowan McLennan opened the batting for the Imperials, and Meyer made four runs before he was bowled by Archie Luke.

Samuel Vagg was sent in, and he and McLennan went on to make 41 and 27 runs respectively.

Wickets were also claimed by Ned Brown and Harvey Smith.

Alan Curnow and James Forrester were not out when the game was called.

The Imperials made 3/95.

Koonwarra L/RSL and Nyora set out to challenge each other at Wonthaggi’s McMahon Reserve.

Nyora chose the bowl, and Koonwarra L/RSL’s opening batsmen Glenn and Ashley Boxall started strong with 28 and 20 runs respectively.

Glenn was not out when the match was abandoned, and Ashley was run out by Keith Linford.

Nyora bowler Viraj Peiris dismissed Nigel Grimes for a duck, and Glenn Matthies finished the day off with one not out.

Koonwarra L/RSL made 2/62.

Leongatha Town had the bye.
