NERRENA put on a dominate performance over MDU at the Nerrena Recreation Reserve on Saturday, led by Damien Symmons and Mitchell Croatto.
Damien Symmons and Tyson Harris opened the batting for Nerrena, with Harris losing his wicket after four runs.
James Kelly and Joel Renden were to follow, dismissed for 18 and six respectively.
This allowed Croatto to step in and the partnership with Symmons made a significant impact to the scoreboard.
Symmons fell agonisingly short of a ton, making 99 runs before he was caught by Troy Sinclair off the bowling of Steve Arnup.
Croatto went on to make 105 not out, finishing the innings with Charlie Dougherty, who made 33 not out.
MDU bowler Daniel Field did what he could to slow Nerrena, taking 4/56.
Callum McCaughan and Arnup were single wicket-takers.
Nerrena ultimately reached 6/303.
MDU will be chasing the impressive score this weekend.
Richardson’s 66 keeps Inverloch in the hunt
INVERLOCH stood its ground against top of the ladder Wonthaggi Club.
Club won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Inverloch captain Brett Debono opened the batting and made a handy 29 runs.
Archie Terlich and Jack Rowe contributed 19 and 22 runs respectively, but it was John Richardson who made the difference.
Richardson made 66 not out, sending Inverloch’s score to 8/204.
Mohamed Ashik Mohamed Nizar had Club’s best bowling figures, claiming 3/31.
Captain Sean Roche was also a multiple-wicket taker.
Club will have its turn at bat this Saturday.
Island bowlers crush Cobras for 89
KORUMBURRA is under pressure after being bowled out 10/89 by Phillip Island.
The Cobras travelled to the Cowes Recreation Reserve, where they won the toss and chose to bat.
Trevor Allen opened well, making 39 runs before he was dismissed LBW by Kurt Lane.
The Phillip Island bowlers stepped it up from there, making it difficult for the Cobras to hit the scoreboard.
Darren Scott and Patrick Beadel added 10 runs each.
Archie Williams was Phillip Island’s stand-out bowler, taking 3/9, but the efforts were well-shared.
Harry Arceo, Tarryn Allan and Lane claimed two wickets each.
Phillip Island will play out its innings this weekend.

Nyora to challenge Koonwarra L/RSL
A HANDY innings from Koonwarra L/RSL will see Nyora working hard to claim victory from the ladder leaders this Saturday.
Hosting the Cougars at the Nyora Recreation Reserve, Nyora won the toss and chose to bowl.
Glenn and Ashley Boxall opened well, making 27 and 14 runs respectively.
Ashley Boxall’s wicket was claimed by Sam Henry, which saw Benjamin Heppell step up to the crease to score 35 runs.
Captain Adam Drury and Nigel Grimes later added 38 and 35 runs respectively, and Kevin Thorne finished it off with 23 runs. The team effort resulted in a score of 10/231.
Nyora bowler Michael Lynch was on the warpath trying to stop Koonwarra L/RSL, claiming an impressive 5/56.
Two wickets were also taken by Ryan White.
Colin and Jordan Knox opened Nyora’s account, making 27 and 13 not out before stumps.
Nyora will continue its innings this Saturday.
Brown’s 65 lifts Glen Alvie
DESPITE a slow start, Glen Alvie pulled together a comfortable score against the Imperials.
The Imperials quickly dismissed Glen Alvie’s first three batsmen, and it was the partnership of Andrew Brown and captain Darcy Hale that put the away team back on course.
Brown made 54 runs before he was bowled by Kristian Gray and Hale made 24 runs before he was caught by Gray off the bowling of Martin Reidy.
Ned Brown made the top score of 65 not out and a further 30 runs were added by Daniel Gilbert. Reidy was the Imperials’ top bowler for the day, taking 3/59.
James Jeffery and Gray took two wickets each.
Glen Alvie was bowled out in the 66th over with a score of 10/224.
The Imperials will go in to bat this weekend.
Foster chases 181
FOSTER will be gunning for Kilcunda-Bass’ score of 10/181 this Saturday.
Playing at the Foster Cricket Ground over the weekend, Kilcunda-Bass won the toss and chose to bat.
The first four batsmen quickly saw their wickets fall, but Zac Crow and captain Ray Gardiner salvaged the day.
Crow made the top score of 53 runs and Gardiner contributed 23 runs. Ben Rookes added 28 runs late in the innings. Shaun Chaseling had a day out for Foster, claiming 4/34. Kilcunda-Bass was all out by the 62nd over.
Foster started its innings with Jake Pilkington making 12 runs before his wicket fell to Rookes.
Brandon Busuttil and Tim Garvey are set to continue Foster’s innings this weekend.
