A SCRAPPY game between rivals Inverloch-Kongwak and Dalyston resulted in a 73-point win to the Sea Eagles.
Played at the Inverloch Recreation Reserve, it had rained throughout the day, but the weather had cleared up by the time the seniors had taken to the ground.
Captain of Inverloch-Kongwak’s U18 side Patrick Dwyer made his senior debut on Saturday and held his own throughout the game.
The Sea Eagles were happy with the first quarter, which saw level scores at the first siren.
However, Dalyston was disappointed with the opening efforts, as it failed to make the most of its opportunities and the wind advantage.
The Magpies through Kyle Kirk kicked the opener in the first 30 seconds of the game but needed to get four or five goals on the board early to stay in contention.
Play was scrappy through the second quarter, and Inverloch-Kongwak found it difficult to use the wind advantage.
The Sea Eagles put three goals on the board, holding Dalyston to just one to establish a lead.
Jayden Sullivan was dominate across Inverloch-Kongwak’s backline and onballer Joe Soumilas was crucial throughout the day.
For Dalyston, Kyle Kirk was their best player on the day, playing through the middle in conditions that really suited him and proving to be an important target.
Onballer Michael Marotta also played a good game, finding his touch against the Sea Eagles.



Inverloch-Kongwak came back from the halftime break in good form, leaving Dalyston behind.
The Sea Eagles followed it up with a dominate fourth quarter, which saw seven goals added to the tally.
The Sea Eagles showed their skill and fitness to power through to the end of the game.
Inverloch-Kongwak’s goal scoring efforts were led by Joseph Nowell, who kicked a bag of five.
Dalyston’s Ben Lewis and Fraser West held up well in the backline but despite their determination Inverloch-Kongwak’s attack came on too strong in the second half.
It was ultimately a tough result for Dalyston in a game that they should have been competitive in.
Inverloch-Kongwak travel to take on Koo Wee Rup next week at the Koo Wee Rup Recreation Reserve.
This will be the first of two important games in a row, with Garfield scheduled for the following week.
Dalyston is set to take on the Warragul Industrials at home.
The Dusties had a narrow win this week, coming off successive losses, and Dalyston is looking forward to showing their supporters a four quarter effort.
