A Grade, Division 2

MDU hit Kilcunda-Bass hard when it made an impressive total of 8/311, but Kilcunda-Bass came back swinging.

The epic performance from the Sharks started with opening batsman Cameron Davidson making 45 runs.

Batting fourth and fifth in the order, it was the combined effort of captain Matthew Grayson and Ash Larcombe that won Kilcunda-Bass the match.

Grayson made 80 runs before he was dismissed by a catch from Andrew Richardson off the bowling of Sembakuttige Chathura Laksan.

Laksan also dismissed Larcombe LBW, but Larcombe had already contributed 77 runs by the point.

Laksan tried to slow Kilcunda-Bass – claiming four of the five wickets taken on the day – but the Sharks were on a mission to take the points.

MDU’s only other wicket-taker was Tharindu Nuwan.

Robert Wallace finished it off for Kilcunda-Bass with 38 not out.

Kilcunda-Bass won the game with a score of 5/316.

Foster claws past Nyora

NYORA relinquished a win to Foster on Saturday.

Foster opened its account the previous week after bowling out Nyora 10/134.

The Tigers had launched a strong campaign heading into this week, already making 2/74 and sitting dangerously close to Nyora’s tally.

Andrew Pattie ensured the win went to Foster by making the top score of 53 runs.

Josh Toner and Ollie Rook contributed 41 and 40 runs respectively.

Nyora’s Aaron Kaddatz pushed to keep his team in it by taking 5/62, but Foster was not to be outdone.

Jy Hull was also a multiple-wicket taker for Nyora.

Foster won with a score of 10/208.

Stingrays outshine Glen Alvie

GLEN Alvie also conceded defeat to Inverloch, unable to defend its total.

Glen Alvie had made 10/132, which turned out to be a gettable score for Inverloch.

The Stingrays launched an attack with the opening partnership of Riley Harris and Callum Asbury making 40 and 71 runs respectively.

Glen Alvie’s bowlers fought back with captain Ben McRae dismissing three batsmen for ducks and taking five wickets for the day.

Single wicket takers for Glen Alvie included Zack Scholz, Wayne Luke and Archie Luke.

However, Rhys Newman piled on another 29 runs and Ty Debono finished it off with 34 not out.

Inverloch was victorious with a score of 8/301.
