C Grade, Division 1

KILCUNDA Bass was too strong for Korumburra in round two of the C1 competition on Saturday.

Playing at the Dalyston Recreation Reserve, Korumburra won the toss and chose to bat first.

Vice-captain James Dunn opened the batting for Korumburra and top-scored with 19 runs.

Paul Dixon matched this score later in the innings and captain Tim Morrison contributed 18 runs.

However, a fill-in for Kilcunda-Bass overpowered the Korumburra batsman and claimed 4/6.

Korumburra was bowled out 10/94 in the 35th over.

Kilcunda-Bass’ opening partnership of Joel Huckett and Gregory Miller made short work of the situation, winning the game with 24 and 70 runs respectively.

After 13 overs, the game was over with Kilcunda-Bass claiming victory with 0/97.

Club outfoxes OMK
OMK and Club played a competitive match with Club ultimately winning the day.

Club travelled out to Digger Park, where the home team won the toss and chose to bowl.

Captain Sean Roche and Bailey Harvey opened the batting well for Club with 21 and 25 runs respectively.

When Roche was dismissed by Owen Fitzpatrick at 1/42, Matrix Chisholm stepped in and made a further 16 runs.

Fitzpatrick was OMK’s best bowler, taking 3/21.

Captain Jordan Myors and Toby Nicholas were also multiple wicket takers.

Club finished its innings with 8/136.

OMK had a slow start, but Fitzpatrick continued his form and kept OMK in it with 29 runs.

Michael Whiteside finished off the innings with a top score of 41 not out.

Alan Babu was Club’s top bowler, claiming 3/31, with Matt Sharp the only other multiple-wicket taker.

OMK finished its allotted overs just short with 6/129.

Leongatha Town forfeited its match against Phillip Island.

Nerrena had the bye. 

C2 Forfeits
KORUMBURRA, MDU, Koonwarra/LRSL and Inverloch forfeited their matches in C2 against Nyora, Glen Alvie, OMK and Phillip Island respectively due to numbers. 

Numbers have become an issue across the board and a league meeting will likely take place this week to discuss how C2 will proceed moving forward.
