TOP of the table Nyora was challenged by Kilcunda-Bass this weekend.
Kilcunda-Bass travelled out to Nyora, where it won the toss and decided to send the home team in first.
Colin Knox opened the batting for Nyora and made 20 runs before he was dismissed LBW by Kevin McLean.
A bowling onslaught from McLean, Ashley Joseph and Joel Dickson kept Nyora quiet until Jarrod Shields stepped up to the crease.
Shields redirected the ship, making 80 runs before his wicket was claimed by Joseph.
McLean claimed 3/26, Dickson took 3/27 and Joseph took 2/20.
Nyora was bowled out with a score of 10/157.
Kilcunda-Bass opened its account and played 17 overs.
Peter Miller made 24 runs before his wicket fell to Daniel Blackney.
Gregory Miller made 38 runs.
Sitting on 1/69, Kilcunda-Bass will be vying for its target this Saturday.
Strong performance from the Stingrays
A STRONG start to the innings has Inverloch in a good spot in its two-day match against Koonwarra L/RSL.
Hosting the Cougars at the Inverloch Recreation Reserve, the Stingrays won the toss and chose to step up to the wicket first.
Opening batsmen David Harris and captain Warren Stewart put their best foot forward, making an early 42 and 24 runs respectively.
However, it was a 77-run haul from Shaun Hayes that really drove Inverloch to its comfortable position.
Leni Jacobs added another 37 runs later in the innings.
Wicket taking was shared between Britney Thomas and Adam Thorne, who both took 3/56.





With the Cougars ready to bat on Saturday, Inverloch is sitting on 8/257.
Glen Alvie go in to battle
GLEN Alvie put up a fight against Phillip Island on Saturday.
Phillip Island won the toss and chose to send in the away team first.
After facing four balls, Glen Alvie lost opening batsman Daniel McGuirk for a duck.
However, the partnership of Ryan Luke and captain Ian Thorn turned it around for Glen Alvie, as they made 41 and 31 runs
respectively.
Twenty-nine runs were added by Wayne Bridle later in the innings.
For Phillip Island, Dean Mani was the top bowler, taking 3/30.
Multiple wickets were also claimed by Peter Cleary and Peter Francis.
Glen Alvie wrapped up its innings with 9/175, and Phillip Island will bat this weekend.
MDU flex its muscle
MDU secured an impressive 5/308 against Leongatha Town on Saturday.
Town won the toss and sent MDU into bat first.
Opening batsman captain Dale Thomas made a good start to the innings, batting 39 runs.
Coming in at number four Wayne Cocksedge made his mark with 83 runs.
The MDU attack continued with Dylan Zuidema coming in at the tail end of the order, making the top score of 88 not out.
Forty-eight runs were also contributed by Glen Cocksedge.
Town’s wicket taking was shared between five bowlers – Travis Strybosch, Cameron Dowling, Hugh Livingstone, Poly Joseph Kallookkaran and Max Carter.
MDU will defend its score against Town’s reply this weekend.
