PHILLIP Island will be looking for an outright win after passing OMK’s score in B1’s two-day match on Saturday.
Phillip Island travelled to the Outtrim Recreation Reserve, where OMK won the toss and chose to bat first.
OMK played a steady innings with Robert Quaife top scoring with 32 runs.
Twenty-one runs were contributed by Brock Furness.
However, the Phillip Island bowlers kept the match in the Sharks’ control.
Timothy Niven claimed 4/41 and Tarryn Allan took 3/28.
OMK was bowled out with a score of 10/122.
Phillip Island showed its strength when it opened its first innings.
The Sharks opened with Connor Epifano and Sarith Angelo.
Angelo was bowled LBW by Russ White, but Epifano stormed ahead to make 72 not out.
David Womersley made 23 runs before he was caught by White off the bowling of Ben Maguire, which sent in Niven who made 11 not out.
Phillip Island had reached 2/130 in 27 overs.
A second innings will be played this weekend.
Nerrena chases 138
WITH a target of 10/138, Nerrena will also continue its innings against Wonthaggi Club this weekend.
Club won the toss at the Nerrena Recreation Reserve and chose to bat.
The opening partnership of Kai Allison and captain Sean Roche started well, making 46 and 26 runs respectively.
However, the Nerrena stepped up its bowling efforts, leading to a number of ducks and low scores.
Bowlers William Croatto, Ryan Clark and Mitchell Croatto shared the spoils of the day, taking three wickets each.
Charlie Dougherty also claimed a single wicket.
Jason O’Reilly top-scored for Club with 47 runs.
Club was bowled out in the 59th over and Nerrena opened its account.
Club bowler Jai Williamson dismissed opening batsman James Kelly for a duck, while Shaun Tessari bowled Billy Trotman for one run.
Eamon Berryman made four runs before Roche claimed his wicket.
The partnership still in at stumps was Dougherty and Clark.
Nerrena will pick up where it left off with a score of 3/14.
Korumburra’s wickets tumble
ALTHOUGH off to a good start, Korumburra will be defending a score of 10/126 against MDU on Saturday.
Trevor Allen and Caleb Turton opened well for the Cobras, making 37 and 32 runs respectively.
Batting third in the order, Philip Richards contributed 29 runs.
However, a slew of ducks inflicted plenty of damage on the scoreboard from there on.
MDU bowler Dylan Zuidema was responsible for three ducks, claiming 4/28 for the day.
Tyrone Zukovskis took 3/36, dismissing Allen, as well as two batsmen at the bottom of the order to help close the innings.






Korumburra was all out in the 57th over.
MDU opened its account but made a slow start to the innings.
Robert Henry made the only significant score of 16 and was not out at stumps.
MDU is sitting on 3/25.
Inverloch had the bye this round.
Top start for Nyora
B Grade, Division 2
STRONG batting efforts from Nyora will see the Imperials digging deep to reach its score of 7/293 this Saturday.
Playing at the Nyora Recreation Reserve, Colin Knox opened the batting for Nyora and made 62 runs before he was caught by Noah McLennan off the bowling of James Jeffery.
Batting fourth in the order, Michael Lynch top scored just short of a ton with 91 runs.
He was bowled by McLennan, ending his reign.
Ryan White finished it off with 57 not out, putting Nyora in a fairly comfortable position.
Bowlers battled hard to slow Nyora, with Jack Ballagh, McLennan and Matthew Portelli taking two wickets each.
The Imperials will have its opportunity to bat this weekend.
Hickey puts Glen Alvie on the back foot
THE bowling prowess of Leongatha Town’s Levi Hickey kept Glen Alvie to 10/144.
In an exceptional effort, the young bowler claimed 6/21, including three ducks.
Glenn Moore and Archie Donohue opened the batting for Glen Alvie and made 52 and seven runs respectively before they were dismissed by Hickey.
Harvey Smith added 43 runs to Glen Alvie’s tally.
Hickey’s efforts were backed up by Samuel Clark with 2/20 and Frazer Livingstone with 1/33.
Leongatha Town will bat and go for the win this Saturday.
Kilcunda-Bass under pressure
KILCUNDA-BASS need to beat Koonwarra L/RSL’s score of 10/186 to win this round’s match.
Koonwarra L/RSL travelled to the Bass Recreation Reserve, won the toss and chose to bat.
Glenn Boxall opened well for the Cougars, making 43 runs.
Matthew Boswell later top-scored with 47 not out.
The bowling efforts were shared between Allan Bedford, Vijai Kumal Gopal and James Papworth with two each.
With Koonwarra L/RSL bowled out before it could play its allotted overs, Kilcunda-Bass had the opportunity to open its account and play seven overs.
The opening partnership of Brett Joseph and captain Ray Gardiner was dismissed for ducks thanks to the bowling of Boxall.
James Matser made six runs before he was caught by Brad Anderson off the bowling of Boxall.
Joel Huckett and Bedford will continue the innings on Saturday, with Huckett having made five runs.
Kilcunda-Bass made 3/11.
