INVERLOCH secured a win against third-placed Phillip Island on Saturday.
Phillip Island went into the match with the challenge of defending 10/124.
Inverloch looked to be on shaky ground early after captain and opening batsman Warren Stewart was dismissed for a duck.
Coming in at number four, Jack Rowe turned the day around with 56 runs on the board before he was caught by Dean Mani.
For Phillip Island, captain Michael Cleary was the most successful bowler, taking 2/30.
Other wickets were shared between Peter Cleary, Mani and Jackson Allan.
After 37 overs, Inverloch passed Phillip Island’s tally, recording a score of 5/125.
Cougars overpower Glen Alvie
GLEN Alvie was unable to stop Koonwarra L/RSL from securing a win on Saturday.
Glen Alvie had finished off its innings the previous week with a score of 10/129.
Koonwarra L/RSL looked to be having a quiet innings until Adam Thorne stepped up to the crease.
Thorne hit 50 runs and was not out at stumps.
A further 38 runs was added by Glenn Mathies.
Vijai Kumar Gopal was Glen Alvie’s best bowler, taking 2/19.
Wicket taking was also shared between three other bowlers.


Forty-four overs were played before Koonwarra L/RSL recorded its win.
The Cougars finished the innings with 5/133.
Town triumph
LEONGATHA Town had a convincing win over Korumburra.
Playing at Leongatha’s Scorpion Park over two days, Town won the toss and chose to bat first.
Travis Strybosch dominated with a top score of 87 runs.
Cameron Dowling contributed 39 runs.
Korumburra bowler Peter Churchill kept Town under pressure, taking 3/51.
Two wickets were claimed by Hudson Jefferis.
Town set the challenge at 7/242.
Churchill opened the batting well for Korumburra, adding an early 39 runs to the scoreboard.
However, this ended up being the Cobras’ top score, with captain Glen Barrett later contributing 31 runs and Paul Edwards hitting 15 runs.
Dowling continued his fine form, taking 4/31 and dismissing the top of Korumburra’s batting order.
Two wickets were also taken by Poly Joseph Kallookkaran.
Korumburra was bowled out after 29.1 overs with a score of 10/119.
MDU forfeited its match against Kilcunda-Bass.
