COAL Creek Community Park and Museum is prepped and ready to host an exciting range of events in the coming weeks, kicking off tomorrow night with the first of three Summer Series events. Here is a taste of what is going on.
Summer Series
The Summer Series is an evening of music for all ages. Each part of the Series brings its own unique line up of musical talent. Here are the dates for each event:
- Series 1: Friday February 2 - 5.30pm to 10pm.
- Series 2: Friday February 16 - 5.30pm to 10pm.
- Series 3: Saturday March 2 - 5.30pm to 10pm.
Summer Series 1 will see your ears treated to a night of Blues. From the gritty garage grooves of Jungle Jim Smith to the psychedelic blues of Nick Carver and the Mean Street Butchers, and throw in a walk down Ozone St, you know you’ll be in for a night of mad, bad, Blues bliss!
Summer Series 2 welcome a night of Indie Aussie Rock. DJ Golden Fleece will be there to spread the love of groove. Harry Hook is Real will have you up on your feet, and for good measure, The Sand Brothers and Desert Alien will be there to make sure there is something for every rock fan.
Summer Series 3 is the spectacular conclusion to this musical series. To send the series off in style, Series 3 will feature a massive electro-rock party. Duo Shouse will be here with their international hit, Love Tonight. There will also be irresistible beats from Ganga Giri with his Yidaki (didjeridoo), Cool Out Sun and Two Last Names.
Bring a picnic rug or chairs to join us at Coal Creek. You don’t have to worry about the food, we have that sorted with everything from woodfired pizza to bao buns and snacks. We’ll also have Burra Brewing Co and Gippsland Wine Company taking over the Pig & Whistle to offer alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

A Day at the Park
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Coal Creek Community Park and Museum, on Saturday, March 2 there will be exhibitions held in the Main Foyer, Auditorium Gallery and in buildings throughout the Park. A tea party will take you back in time as you watch silent movies in the theatre, or have a laugh at the celebrity Edwardian cricket match on the Pavilion Oval. All this and more happening during the day before Summer Series 3 takes it away at night.
Charley Crockett
Yes, there is still more! Texan Cowboy Charley Crockett is coming to Coal Creek on Saturday, February 10. With his neo-traditional country swagger, Charley will be joined by The Blue Drifters and is a must-watch for anyone who loves Western charm.
