KORUMBURRA won on first innings points but failed to secure an outright win against Leongatha Town on Saturday.
With a winning total of 9/156 secured on day one, Korumburra declared and sent Leongatha straight into bat its second innings.
Catches from Zachary Barrett dismissed the opening partnership of Darcy Hume and captain Jesse Giardina with only a few early runs on the board.
The dismissal of Hume allowed Amila Ratnaike to step up to the wicket and he scored 61 runs before he was caught and bowled by Thilakaratna Dilshan.
Ron Abeysinghe later top scored with 65 runs.
Levi Gooch gave a strong performance for the Cobras, taking 3/32.
Dilshan and Hemal Ratnayake were also multiple wicket takers.
Town declared at 8/224 after 54 overs.
The Cobras went into bat but fell short of the outright win by 70 runs.
It was a slow start to the innings with the openers Jacob Whiteside and Nedeesha Belpage both dismissed early with the score on six.
Dilshan went into bat and hit 32 runs before he was caught by Ratnaike.
Wickets were taken by Town bowlers Rhett Hume, Jack Hume and Abeysinghe.
Korumburra faced 18 overs and finished 4/56 at stumps.
Riaz overpowers Club
OMK bowler Mudassar Riaz tore through Wonthaggi Club’s batting order, ensuring the Diggers’ impressive score of 10/285 would not be reached.
Riaz finished the innings having claimed 6/56.
For Club, Ryan Thomas top scored with 24 runs before he was caught by Cooper Quaife.
Alex Geyer and Fraser West were the only other batsmen to make an impact on the scoreboard, with 12 and 10 runs respectively.
OMK bowler Peter Dell also put the pressure on Club, taking 3/29.




Club lasted only 35.2 overs and were all out for 99.
Nerrena secure the victory
NERRENA stood firm and claimed the win over the Imperials on Saturday.
Opening the batting for the Red Caps, Hayden Funnell picked up from where he left off the previous week and added 22 runs to the scoreboard.
Captain Mitchell Clarke went on to top score with 66 runs and Tadgh Gannon contributed 37 runs.
Clarke was not out at the end of the innings.
Imps captain Jack Ginnane had the most bowling success, taking 2/22.
Other wickets were claimed by
Lachie Wright and Damon Ginnane.
Nerrena was victorious with a final score of 4/159.
Sharks hold back the Stingrays
PHILLIP Island secured a comfortable win over Inverloch on Saturday.
Inverloch went into the weekend’s match with its eye on the target of 9/209.
Inverloch’s opening batsman Jack Butcher faced five balls and was dismissed for a duck.
The partnership of Wally Taberner and Andrew Donohue steadied the course for Inverloch and contributed 18 runs each.
Batting at number five, Jake Dennerley had Inverloch back in contention as he top scored with 78 runs.
A catch from Brodie Johnston dismissed him at 6/134.
Phillip Island bowler Shiran Rathnayake claimed the most wickets, taking 3/49.
Simon Kirton, Max Royal and Zac Brown took two wickets each.
Inverloch conceded to Phillip Island, ending its innings all out 164.
