Triumphant victory for Nerrena against MDU

LAST placed Nerrena held on to a triumphant win over MDU on Saturday.
MDU’s batsman Mitchell Hoober gave it his all to keep the away side in the match, resulting in a 76-run haul.
Hoober was not out at the end of the innings.
Troy Sinclair also performed well, adding 44 runs to the scoreboard.
Sinclair was caught by Joel Renden at 8/212.
However, Nerrena bowler Zack Trease was eager to record the win, taking 4/54.
Scott Checkley also claimed three wickets.
In the end, MDU fell short of its target of 5/299, finishing off its innings with 10/233.
Nyora trounce Foster
NYORA stood its ground and declared victory over Foster on Saturday.
Coming off bowler Aaron Kaddatz’s star performance – claiming 8/15 – Nyora opened its account on the first day of the two-day match and passed Foster’s meagre total of 10/71 after 48 overs.
Nyora finished the day on 7/90 with Bailey Esler and Aidan Simmons still at the wicket and came into Saturday hungry for an outright win.
Esler top scored with 51 runs before a catch by Mitchell Jones saw him sidelined.
Simmons also had a good run to accumulate 37 runs.
Jack Gay was Foster’s top bowler, taking 3/31.
Brad Coates was also a multiple wicket taker.
Nyora finished off its innings with 9/181.
Foster was sent into bat for a second innings, as Nyora eyed off that outright win.
Opening batsmen Gay and Josh Toner made 21 and 14 runs respectively off the remaining 15 overs and were not out at the end of the day.
Cougars secure the win


WITH Kilcunda-Bass producing a small tally of 10/85, Koonwarra L/RSL pounced on a win this Saturday.
Opening the batting for the Cougars, Matt Cooke started strong with 20 runs.
Jason Kennedy entered at 2/20 and batted well in a partnership with Cooke, hitting 44 runs.
Captain James Rushton was 37 not out at the end of the innings.
Ben Rookes tried to keep Kilcunda-Bass competitive, taking 3/35.
Multiple wickets were also claimed by Todd Smith.
After 46.4 overs, Koonwarra L/RSL declared with a total of 8/145 and sent Kilcunda-Bass back into bat.
Aaron Conron was caught by Rushton after making two off 14 balls.
Smith and Daniel Ferguson made 11 and six respectively and were not out at stumps.
Kilcunda-Bass fended off an outright win with 1/21.
Glen Alvie hold on to victory
GLEN Alvie proved it was up for Wonthaggi Club’s challenge and came away with a win on Saturday.
Playing at the Dalyston Recreation Reserve, Club finished its first innings with 10/132 – not enough to feel comfortable against third placed Glen Alvie.
Opening batsman Matthew Donohue was caught for a duck, which rattled Glen Alvie early.
Scott Peatling also opened Glen Alvie’s batting and hit 36 runs, but the batting order was silenced by Club’s bowlers for most of the innings.
Captain Stephen Kennedy stepped up to the wicket to lead his team to victory, making 58 not out.
Ryan Sinclair added 17 runs to round out the innings.
Club bowler Jai Williamson caused Glen Alvie the most stress, taking 3/23 – two ducks and one golden duck.
The rest of the wicket taking was shared between Luke McGuirk, Heath Dobbie and Jy Hull.
Glen Alvie managed to take the win with a final score of 7/134.
