THE U15 boys had a great win over Bairnsdale, Skipper Cooper Newman won the toss and had no hesitation batting first on the always great Scorpion Park Turf.
Debono and Berryman got off to a great start with a 58-run opening stand, the dismissal of Debono bringing Newman to the crease and they continued on with the great batting, both boys displaying great maturity with their shot selection and running between wickets a feature combining for a 138-run partnership.
Berryman played a phenomenal innings, and with the help of Tex Dyson and Jobe Williams, they continued to pile on the runs to get the LDCA to the big score of 280. Berryman batted through the innings, bringing up his first-ever century, a wonderful display of concentration and fitness on a very warm day.
LDCA’s turn with the ball saw Jobe Williams strike two early blows before a handy partnership was formed. Enter Frazer Livingstone, with his rapidly improving leg spin, to rip through the middle order and claim four wickets. Fellow spinner Archie Donohue also chipped in with two wickets. All bowlers bowled well, backed up by good fielding and catching.
A great win by a team growing with confidence every time they play. The boys have their last game v Latrobe Valley on February 2.

The U13 team had a tough day against a strong Bairnsdale team. Batting first we lost early wickets to be 5/21, Heath Crump then put great value on his wicket and formed a good little partnership with skipper Reggie Read, Ryder Pedlow and Jaxon Eddy also both batting very well to get the score up to 88 a lot better than it was looking.
Bairnsdale made the runs easily, but the LDCA boys stuck to their guns and showed great enthusiasm. Coach Nick Eddy was pleased that the boys fought out the game right to the end with many good signs for the future. The boys have their last game v Latrobe Valley on February 2.
Thanks to Imperials Cricket Club for hosting the game, and all the parents for their help and support.
