TOP of the table OMK flexed its muscles against Phillip Island at Digger Park on Saturday.
Competing in the first day of a two-day match, the Diggers managed to bowl out the Sharks and will be aiming for a target of 10/150 next week.
Phillip Island won the toss and stepped up to the wicket first.
It was a humbling start to the innings, with OMK bowler Russ White decimating the away side’s batting order.
White claimed 6/45, sending Phillip Island’s top six batsmen back to the sideline with hardly a dent on the scoreboard.
Phillip Island Captain Daniel McCausland stepped in to save the day, hitting 57 runs before a catch from Thomas Walker dismissed him.
OMK’s Harvey Sorenson was also a multiple wicket taker.
OMK opened its account, playing 21 overs before the end of play.
White continued his form, opening the batting and making 48 not out.
Wickets fell to Michael Cleary and Archie Williams.
OMK will see out its innings next week, currently sitting on a total of 2/78.
Cobras outdone by the Sharks
KILCUNDA-BASS has taken a massive lead into its second day of its B2 match against Korumburra on Saturday.
The Sharks’ bowlers launched their attack after choosing to send the Cobras in to bat first at Poowong Recreation Reserve.
The innings began on a sour note for Korumburra, with Pierre Dunlevie dismissed for a golden duck after being run out by Rohan Duff.
Patrick Beadel top scored later in the innings with 20 runs before he was bowled lbw by Bradley Waldron.
Jacob Havetta recorded Kilcunda-Bass’ best bowling figures, taking 3/9.
It was all over for Korumburra with a score of 10/63.
The partnership of Kilcunda-Bass captain Bradley Waldron and Scott Williams won the innings, with the batsmen making 32 and 33 respectively.
Williams was not out at the end of the innings.
Wicket taking was shared between Thomas Sorrell, Kyle Dorman and George Edwards.




Kilcunda-Bass came away with a total of 3/105 and will challenge Korumburra for an outright win this Saturday.
Club challenges Glen Alvie
GLEN Alvie has its work cut out as they attempt to defend 10/104 this Saturday (January 27).
Playing at home, Glen Alvie chose to bat first against Wonthaggi Club.
Captain Jay Tiziani led Glen Alvie’s campaign with 33 runs before a catch by Justin Licis saw him sidelined.
Nathan Thatcher followed with a top score of 43.
However, Sean Roche was a powerhouse for Club, taking 5/35.
Jack Sheerin also claimed two wickets.
Club took the opportunity to begin its innings and played 10 overs.
Sheerin and Mitchell Davey made 21 runs each, with Davey not out.
Jack Brown took a wicket for Glen Alvie.
Club will continue play at 1/46.
Foster struggle against Nerrena
NERRENA triumphed over Foster in a one-day match at Leongatha’s velodrome on Saturday.
The clubs opted for a shorter match format due to the Australia Day long weekend this week.
Foster won the toss and chose to bat first.
Nerrena bowlers Jack Donohue and Jhett Brown didn’t allow Foster to get a look in, taking 3/15 and 3/19 respectively.
Tim Garvey top scored for Foster with 16 runs.
Foster closed its innings with 10/59.
Nerrena’s Eamon Berryman opened well, making 35 runs before he was run out.
Wickets were taken by Foster’s Shaun Chaseling and Brandon Busuttil.
Nerrena won the day with 3/65 after just 14 overs.
