POOWONG welcomed Buln Buln on Saturday in all grades. The weather was great with no wind and the ground was in good condition. The season is drawing to a close with two rounds to go plus finals possible for Under16’s and U/18’s and U/15’s and17’s.

On Saturday the club honoured Conor Cunningham for two hundred senior games for Poowong. Conor gives everything each week and has great family support for No 2 “Llama”.  Conor is a great contributor and highly respected country footballer, respected by his team mates, supporters and the club.

Poowong made one change Gavan Monson rested replaced by Jacob Graue to take on the strong Buln Buln side. Poowong kicking to the Nyora end were first on the board with a point. Poowong were working hard but the lack of a strong target was letting them down. Buln Buln goaled from the boundary early, Poowong replied with a goal to Tyran Lord. The quarter was even with Buln Buln adding a second goal to lead by ten points 2.5.17 to Poowong 1.1.7

Both sides worked hard in the second quarter with the ball moving up and down the ground,

Zac Gray adding Poowong’s second with Buln Buln adding four goals to lead 6.9.45 to Poowong 2.4.16 at the big break.

The third quarter Buln Buln started to get on top adding seven goals to Poowong’s single goal to Conor Cunningham to open up a 68 point lead 13.12.90 to Poowong 3.4.22.

The last quarter Poowong lifted keeping Buln Buln to one goal with Poowong failing to add to their three quarter time score. Final Score Buln Buln 14.18.102    to Poowong 3.4.22

All the best to Buln Buln in the finals.
